All the boys played brilliantly in spite of the lack of match practice because of the recent weather. For some of the boys this was their first ever match
and everyone did Stanmore proud.
Bessborough batted first and Stanmore slowed their scoring with some tight bowling and aggressive fielding in difficult conditions.
Some excellent bowling from Vinai including a maiden over and Joseph Mohan, Ashir, Tej and Sachin, who all took wickets at important times and
Bessborough were restricted to 239 for 4 wickets.
Everyone batted extremely well on a very difficult wicket where the ball kept very low and it was hard to get the ball of the square. It would have been very easy to try to hit the ball too hard and lose wickets
but they kept their composure and played some very nice cricket shots.
Ashir had to face the last 2 balls against Bessborough's best bowler and keep his wicket in tact to win the match, no pressure!
He did brilliantly and defended both balls to clinch the win by 5 runs.
