The Stanmore Cricket Club Won by two runs

Match report A really tight finish in failing light saw the Stanmore U13As secure their first league win of the season and their third in four matches.
We finally won the toss, which was helpful in a 20-over match. The outfield was slow and the Lohana bowling accurate with only seven extras conceded. We started slowly, being restricted to nine runs for the loss of one wicket from our first five overs. We accelerated the run rate between the 6th and 14th overs, scoring 59 runs with Harry Wilcox 30 and Thomas Stock 20 our main run scorers. We were pegged back in the last six overs, adding 16 more runs to reach a total of 84 for nine. The score looked under par but defensible if we bowled and fielded well.
With not many runs to play with, we needed to bowl tightly but conceded 17 extras to put pressure on ourselves. Lohana reached 53 for the loss of only two wickets after 11 overs and we looked up against it. The boys can be proud of their fielding, which was really tight, and the pressure exerted began to tell as only six runs were scored from the next four overs. With four overs remaining, Lohana needed only 18 runs for the win, with six wickets in hand. Stanmore might have been expected to wilt under pressure but instead Lohana began to lose their way. Dhylan Patel came on and took two wickets for three runs in the 17th over. A boundary could have taken the match away from us but both bowlers and fielders were on top of their games. In the 19th over Dhylan took another two wickets for one run, leaving Lohana needing ten from the last over. Hamish was handed the ball and the fielders were pushed back to prevent boundaries. A single and two dot balls increased the pressure on Lohana. Fielding cautiously, we conceded six runs from the last three balls but made sure we won by two runs.
