Match report Oh dear, another defeat, but a cracking match.
Sun for a few days and then rain on the day of the match. This meant that the square was unusable, so we played on the astroturf.
They were a bit short in numbers, so they batted to allow others to turn up. We started well, with KUSH SHAH and Man of the Match CHIRAG KHATRI taking a couple of early wickets. CAPTAIN NIKESH MISTRI also took his usual couple of wickets and MOHAMMED HUSSEIN also took a couple.
So we restricted them very well. They were 65-8 with 3 overs to go. Jishoan Mathan, a Stanmore U13B member, kindly played for Lohana B as they were short. Glad we asked him, as he smacked 21 from those last 3 overs! They finished on 91-8. A better target than they were to get, but definitely, an achievable target.
However, an achievable target if we bat properly!!!
Our first 4 wickets went down to poor shots; 2 up in the air catches and 2 bowled. This left us quite an uphill task to get the runs with the wickets left. Fortunately, CHIRAG KHATRI and guesting for us from U11A, JONATHAN BROWN, kept their heads and had a lovely partnership of 40; Chirag with 22,and run out pushing the run rate along and Jonathan with 28. Well done to those two. Then that Jishoan turned up again to bowl the last over...we needed 7...he kept it tight, took a wicket. We couldn't get the runs and fell 3 short.
A great match. Another one next Monday and it is about time that we won again!
