Match report A bright, but chilly evening on The Common saw the first match of this seasons Under 13B Squad. Vishay tossed up, won the toss and decided to field. Fielding was not one of the specialties shown during the evening and was rather poor all round; mis-fields, dropped catches, overthrows, fielding in the wrong place etc. We allowed them 159 runs in the alloted 20 overs. The pick of the bowling came from Romin Varia (2 0 0-6) and Jack Brown (2 0 2-16). Batting was always going to be an uphill struggle facing a 160 target, but Jackattack was first out and up for it. He fell for 6. Captain for the evening, Vishay then decided to take responsibility and sensibly batted a superb 48 not out. Rohan and Robert both enjoyed a quick 17. Ultimately and unfortunately, we finished 19 short. We all agreed in the post-match discussion that the fielding let us down and falling over the ball on the boundary and allowing it to slowly roll past the flags, does not help. We look forward to fielding practice and our first win next week.
