Match report A very young and inexperienced side took to the field at Glaxo on Saturday, but were unable to repeat the defensive heroics of the previous week.
Shepherds Bush were always able to score freely against our bowling, and raced on to 245 in 46 overs. The pick of the bowlers were Shanni Amstell (2-36) and Mitesh Patel who bowled seven overs of Leg Spin for only twenty seven runs towards the close of the innings.
Stanmore were never going to be in the hunt for a win and were left only with the option to block out for the draw. Unfortunately, we could not repeat the heroics of final match of last season, also against the Bush, when we survived sixty one overs to gain a point. We were finally bowled out in the forty third over, with the last seven wickets falling in eight overs.
Only Alex Singleton who blasted his way to fifty three, an innings which included two sixes and eight fours, and Simon Harradine who was last out for thirty showed any resistance against an attack which included a former first class Pakistani off spinner with an exceedingly questionable action.
