Match report Stanmore lost by 7 runs

Steven's brilliant 55 not out could not prevent Stanmore U15 from losing their under 15 league encounter with Eastcote U15. Eastcote won the toss and elected to bat first on a sunny beautiful evening. Unfortunately for Stanmore there were only 8 players took the field and things got even worse when Samad went for 22 runs in his very first over including 10 wides. After the first 5 overs Eastcote were well on top scoring 46 without losing a wicket. But Shahbaz the stanmore skipper bowled a brilliant first over to remove both openers. Subsequently a steady 80 run partnership between Arman who scored 50 and Omar 15 gave Eastcote a good platform to launch assault on Stanmore bowlers at the end. Eastcote U15 eventually made 141 for 5 in their 20 overs.

Stanmore started well with Steven and Mohammed. The pair battered sensibly and punished loose balls. Stanmore lost their first wicket when mohammed was judged lbw for 17. Zunair came in at no 3 and looked very positive from the beginning. Unfortunately for Stanmore he did not last enough and was caught in the extra cover for a well compiled 22. Samad came in at no 5 and put on a 41 runs partnership with Steven. After Samad's dismissal at 123; Steven took on the responsibility and batted brilliantly for a well compiled 55 not out. But his brave knock wasn't enough to take Stammore over the line and was short of 7 runs. Unfortunately for Stanmore 29 extra runs they gave proved to be the deciding factor in this game. I hope the boys would learn from this mistake and put up a better bowling performance in the next game.
