Match Report
Great effort team, it was a very tight match.
Ground Fielding – Our fielding was a bit scrappy at times as the team did not back up when the ball was thrown but we still managed to have two run outs.
Catching – There were two great catches, one by Ross Halsey who despite slipping he managed to catch the ball as it scooped out of his hand. The other good catch was by Kevin who at mid-wicket leaped into the air and caught the ball as it was driven hard over his head.
Well done to Rohan Bharadia... who was excellent behind the wicket especially as he has not kept wicket before.
Bowling – Generally it was good. Best bowling was by Mohammed Hirji (4 Overs 2 for 5).
Batting – A good start by the two opening pair of Kevin Kandaswami (caought) and Jonathan Brown (bowled) despite some quick bowling by the home team. Mohammed Hirji batted well but he needs to take quick singles (we can learn this at practice session on Fridays) as singles pushes up the score when you only need 4 and over. Boundaries were hard to come by as there were no power hitters in the team. Mohammed was unlucky to get run out. Rohan Bharadia edged the ball to the keeper but great wicket keeping though. Tejus Hirani and Hugo Potter batted exceptionally up to the end and they ran very well to get the singles and twos. Hugo was unlucky to be bowled with one over left and 6 runs to win. Tejus did great trying to get the team over the winning line but in the end we ran out of overs with 3 runs needed.
