Wembley v The Stanmore Cricket Club 3rd XI on Mon 26 Aug 2002 at 1.30
The Stanmore Cricket Club Won 5 Wickets
Great Week end for Sons of Rod (Part 3)
On a good batting wicket and despite the efforts of the wicketkeeper, Stanmore did well to restrict Wembley to 198 in 45 overs.
In reply, James hand and Jake Lofdhal got us of the the perfect start putting on 95 for teh first wicket. The middle order then lost its way a little, and the run rate slowly began to creep up.
With 55 required of the last 9 overs the Elder Son of Rod joins the skipper at the wicket. The pair add 34 vital runs before the skipper is run out for 21, but the run rate is now 7 an over.
A few more quick two's and the occasional lusty blow means we requie six from the final over with Mason on strike.
One Ball, one step down the wicket, one lofted straight drive, one six, one despairing boundary fielder, onther victory fashioned fron the bat of James "Terminator" Mason.
Wonderful stuff.
