The Stanmore Cricket Club Lost 32 Runs

Match report After all the trauma of switching the venue to Bessborough at the last moment we did very well to restrict Bessborough to 82. Both bowling and fielding were very good. The pitch at Bessborough had horribly inconsistent bounce which was helping the bowlers of both sides. I can never understand how an artificial wicket can be so inconsistent.
Our batting, as usual, required that a couple of the early batsmen scored heavily and on this occasion that did not happen. A combination of good bowling, even better fielding and the pitch, meant that we could not reach that relatively low total. Well done to everybody. At least the game was decided by a cricket match and not by bowl offs or the lottery ball as has happened so often in these National Cup competitions.
